ISES Phila - What does your company do and what is your role?

• David - I'm the General Manager of Select Event Rentals/Main Line Party Rentals which is a full service Rental company. We provide tables, chairs, china, flatware, custom linens, tents, structures, dance floors, staging and much, much more. We are an International, Award-Winning Rental company that has been ranked among the Top 30 Event Rental Companies Worldwide by Special Events Magazine.

ISES Phila - What was the event that you won your Liberty Award?

• David - The Liberty Award I won was for Best ISES Team and the event was produced by Nancy Bauman of NKB Events. It was a Mexican Carnival theme and was held at a private residence. My role as part of this team was to handle all of their rentals. We provided the tenting with 3' high pipe and drape to present the carnival booths atmosphere and we set up a 20' x 30' tent to cover the dance floor. Select Event Rentals/Main Line Party Rentals also supplied all of the tables, chairs and kitchen equipment. It was a very successful event because of the team of ISES professionals who worked together.

ISES Phila - How long have you been in the industry and a part of ISES Phila?

• David - I have been in the Hospitality/Special Events Industry for the past 25 years. I know it's hard to imagine that I have been around that long but it's true I started in this Industry fresh out of college in 1982 and I'm still going strong and loving every minute of it.

ISES Phila - What is your role in ISES Phila and/or International Leadership?

• David - I have been a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of ISES for the past 10 years. I started out as a member in 1998 and then I joined a few committees.  Then in 1999 I started my path towards ISES Leadership when I was appointed my first position on the Philadelphia Board as a Director. That was for 2 years and then I followed the succession plan and moved up to Vice President of Education for 2 years, followed by President Elect for 1 year and yes I was one of the few members who was President for 2 full terms. After that I was Immediate-Past President and now I am the Director of Special Projects for our local Philadelphia Chapter, and I am a Committee member on the ISES International Professional Development Committee. I also achieved my Certified Special Event Professional (CSEP) designation back in 2002 and I have just recently been recertified for another 5 years.

ISES Phila - What do you think is your favorite aspect of ISES?

• David - ISES has been a part of my professional and personal life for the past 10 years and I have met so many great contacts, business partners and friends from all around the world that I would say my favorite aspect has to be the networking.  I benefit from ISES not just on a local or national level but on an international level as well and it's amazing to meet colleagues each year at the ISES Eventworld Conference and also at The Special Event Conference.  Education is also a major reason why I am involved with ISES because it's always great to be able to learn something new each month at our local meetings and then throughout the year at the various conferences. I am a true believer that you have to get involved in order to get back and I have been very involved in ISES for the past 10 years and I have gotten back so much more. When I was President, I used to preach GROWTH with Involvement and I still live by that today, so get INVOLVED with ISES Philadelphia and there is no end to your growth in our Industry!!!!

In January 2008 David received his 10 Year ISES Membership Pin at the ISES Leadership Meetings in Atlanta, GA.
