CSEP  Information

What is Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP)?
The CSEP designation is the hallmark of professional achievement in the special events industry. It is earned through education, performance, experience, and service to the industry, and reflects a commitment to professional conduct and ethics. The CSEP designation is awarded by the International Special Events Society (ISES) and its Certification Committee. ISES is the only international umbrella organization representing professionals in all disciplines of the special events industry. Education and a commitment to professionalism are cornerstones of ISES. Why Should I Be Certified? The special events industry has experienced phenomenal growth over the past several years and is changing at an even faster pace. Today, special events are more challenging and require a level of professionalism equal to none. Become a recipient of the CSEP designation and set yourself apart from the competition.
Please refer to the ISES website for more information. For questions regarding the CSEP program contact ISES Headquarters at 800.688.4737, 312.321.6853 or info@ises.com

TBA-Networking Summer Mixer

Hello everyone and thank you for reading the April newsletter.

Did you attend FRESH?  It was magical!  The cruise ship terminal was transformed into a bright and beautiful display of creativity that was so much fun.  It is something that all of us can be proud of as members.  Pictures and video clips will be here soon.

This month brings speaker Ira Mitchell Steinman to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology who will show us how to bring a "Royal" event to life.  Also in this issue is a great introduction to "ISES Community", the ISES social network.  Eventworld is just around the corner and the Liberty Award submissions are due on May 8th!

There's so much more in this issue, so go brew a cup of coffee and cuddle up with your favorite laptop.

As always, send me your articles and let the ISES community know what's going on in your world.

Thanks again for reading!

Sincerely,

Dave Williams

April 22nd, 2009 Monthly Networking/Educational - Pre-Registration Monday Deadline April 20th

"Event Decor" with speaker Ira Mitchell Steinman at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology

Bio: More than 25 years ago Ira began his journey in special events as a floral designer in New York City; his resume is extraordinary! Having designed from coast to coast in the U.S., as well as The Caribbean, South America, Europe and Asia, has given him a unique global perspective.

Ira enjoys the full emersion of all aspects of special event design, entertainment and production. From consultation to proposal, from costuming to staging, from complete concept to tables, from ceiling to floor, his visions are spectacular. Historically, Ira has planned, designed, executed and produced countless events and galas and yet continues to experience the excitement and adrenaline rush with each and every event.

Tell Your Story With Some Free Help From a Public Relations Consultant

ISES headquarters has hired a public relations consultant to help you tell the stories of your event successes.  If you have an article or story that promotes ISES as the industry professionals of choice for corporations or a story that promotes ISES members to the end consumer. These articles will be pitched to national media sources.   We are all involved in fantastic events and by telling our story it helps the credibility of our industry.  If you are like me your marketing budgets are shrinking and hiring a public relation consultant is not a reality.  Well here is the opportunity to have a public relations consultant work for you and it will cost you absolutely nothing.  If you have stories to share send them to Jim Leighton today.  jim@ises-msp.org   Don’t put this off.  The demand for stories is great.  Let’s all stand together and tell our success stories.

REC 2009
Lauren Huezo, CSEP

I had the privilege to attend the REC (Regional Educational Conference)
since 2002 and I was very excited when I heard the news it would be in New
York City, as many perceive NYC as the event capital of the east coast. Chapter
board members of each of the ISES chapters in the Northeast region met on
Saturday, March 7th for a leadership meeting that updated members on the status
of each chapter, ISES International and educated the chapter leaders on policies
and procedures.. . . READ MORE
