CSEP  Information

What is Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP)?
The CSEP designation is the hallmark of professional achievement in the special events industry. It is earned through education, performance, experience, and service to the industry, and reflects a commitment to professional conduct and ethics. The CSEP designation is awarded by the International Special Events Society (ISES) and its Certification Committee. ISES is the only international umbrella organization representing professionals in all disciplines of the special events industry. Education and a commitment to professionalism are cornerstones of ISES. Why Should I Be Certified? The special events industry has experienced phenomenal growth over the past several years and is changing at an even faster pace. Today, special events are more challenging and require a level of professionalism equal to none. Become a recipient of the CSEP designation and set yourself apart from the competition.
Please refer to the
ISES website for more information. For questions regarding the CSEP program contact ISES Headquarters at 800.688.4737, 312.321.6853 or info@isesphila.com

WOW - who knew that one year could fly by so quickly?  It seems like just yesterday that I was sworn in as President and had an ambitious list of tasks to accomplish in 365 days.  Well with the support of the 2008-09 Board, this chapter has managed to accomplish a great many of those tasks.

Our Membership has grown to well over 200 members and we have produced an online PDF Membership Directory in an effort to be more "green" and to aid our members in their endeavor to work more with one another.

Our Communication has improved internally through the use of an application called the GroupHub and externally through the new format that the newsletter is distributed via email for ease of opening on Blackberry devices.

Our Programs and Education this year have been a great success! We have had visits from celebrities in the industry including: Chef Roland Mesnier, retired White House Pastry Chef and Ira Mitchell-Steiman, Event Industry Decorator guru. Many of our other monthly meetings included a five star panel of experts speaking about the economy and an open "mic" lunch meeting format which highlighted our own members sharing their depth of industry knowledge with the audience.

Our Special Projects included our annual Fresh! fundraiser with over 500 attendees and impressive "pod" spaces decorated to showcase what was new and fresh in the industry, as well as our upcoming Liberty Awards Gala "Let Freedom Bling!" which was like going to a Special Event Conference Gala without the airfare!

We have supported our Breathing Room Charity this year again around the holidays to help those less fortunate than us that have been dealing with the effects of cancer so that they could take a moment to breath and find hope in their daily situation.  We have also helped collect food and financial contributions for the Food Bank of Delaware which find themselves in constant need of items.  Lastly, we have found the time to participate outside of our region and collected funds to purchase Nets for Malaria which will help save lives of the number one killer in Africa.  The result of this drive has saved over 75 lives!

My most heartfelt thank you goes to all of our members who have been one of our sponsors this year.  Whether it was a yearly sponsorship, a monthly sponsorship or a postcard sponsorship, your support of the chapter has been deeply appreciated.  If you were a Fresh! or Liberty Awards Gala sponsor, our chapter thanks you for your participation as these events become magical with the talent and expertise you bring to the table.  Last but not least, a huge thank you to the 2008-09 Board, committee members and student volunteers, we could not have been as successful this year without your hard work and dedication to the industry.  Thank you for your support!

It was wonderful to see you all at the Liberty Awards Gala and 2009-10 Board Installation Ceremony where I passed the gavel onto incoming President Larry Ott. It has been my honor to have served you. Have a great summer!
